The River Ridge Teaching Staff is dedicated to providing a quality learning experience for golfers of all ages and levels in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. Our aim is to help our students reach their individual goals and increase their passion for the great game of golf and make golf a fun experience through improved knowledge, fundamentals and properly fitted equipment. This quality experience is created by providing a well experienced and trained PGA teaching staff, exceptional grass practice facilities and use of the latest technology. Besides private instruction, we also offer group instruction with beginner adult leagues, junior classes and camps, women's short game and full swing clinics, and Special Olympics.

Lee Martin, Director of Instruction
Lee graduated from Los Angeles State College (now California State University Los Angeles) in 1963. Lee was the California Collegiate Athletic Champion in 1961 and was selected to play on the NCAA West team versus the NCAA East team at Purdue University during the 1961 NCAA Championship. Since turning professional in 1963 Lee has 49 years of experience teaching all levels and ages of players in both the private and public golf courses. Lee was listed on Golf Digest's top twenty-five instructors 2002 to 2008 and Teacher of the Year 1998 and 1999 in the Northern Chapter of the Southern California PGA and Club Fitter of the Year in 2002.

Lee specializes in helping players of all ages to reach their potential. Six of Lee's past Junior golfers became collegiate All-Americans and won 16 tournaments on the LPGA and PGA Tours.

Ladies short game and full swing clinics are scheduled four times a year on Saturdays. Junior clinics are held every Saturday.

 
Susan Olson Sipes, Head Professional
Susan Olson Sipes is the Director of Golf/Head Professional at River Ridge Golf Club. She has been a member of the PGA of America for 21 years and has been a teaching professional at River Ridge since opening day in 1986. She specializes private lessons for beginning men/women and semi-private lesson for couples and friends. She is available Wednesdays through Sundays between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. Jon Gomez, Instructor
Jon Gomez is one of our instructors at River Ridge Golf Club. In his 23 years as a golf professional, Jon has had 7 years experience as a Director Of Instruction and 11 years of coaching high school golf. He is currently the Boys and Girls Head Coach at Saint Bonaventure High School and the Ventura County Coach for Special Olympics/special needs golfers. In 2003 created Training On Wheels, a mobile golf program designed to introduce underserved juniors to the game. Enjoys working with all levels of golfers in private or group settings but specializes in making the game fun for the new player.  Chad Wright:
Chad has been a professional golfer since 1998 and has been working at River Ridge GC since 2007. His past includes earning All-American honors twice at USC and then spent the next 7 years playing on professional golf tours around the world including the Canadian, Australasian, and Nationwide Tours. His most notable win came in the 2000 Canadian PGA Championship. Chad's focus now is sharing his knowledge, experience and love for the game with those that he instructs. Chad gives private lessons to people of all ages and organizes a year round junior golf program at River Ridge. His lessons include mobile video analysis with the ipad2 and he's available Tuesday through Saturday. For rates and availability Chad can be reached at 805-701-2677.

Doug Ragan
Doug graduated from Oxnard High School in 1997 where he was a four year letterman in golf and then went on to play two years at Ventura College. He turned pro in 2000 and began to work at local course where he worked with a wide array of students from beginner to low handicap players.
